Pronounced “body,” this horizontally striped lighthouse is on the sound side at the southern end of Bodie Island in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Fully restored in 2013, you can climb to the top, late April through Columbus Day in October. More info...
This lighthouse has become the icon of the island, representing the hopeful, stalwart, survivalist attitude that is so pervasive among the people of Hatteras.
